Road Trip - Days 23-30 - Billings

One more week left in June and we are staying at Matt's house.  However, Rhiana is throwing a birthday party for Isla today and she doesn't know we are in town yet, so Gammy and Grandpa will surprise her.  When we arrive, it's GREAT!  Littles are excited and my daughter is so surprised.  This is so fun.  Now to just play and enjoy the day.

Still Birthday Season

My birthday weekend continues.  Today Mister has started out with a brand new coffee/pastry shop and it is sooooo yummy.  I guess calling it a bakery is more apt and they are working to enlarge their offerings.

Birthday Fun - Dallas Zoo (Hippo Heavy), Davis Coffee, Manhattan Project, and Family

It's my Birthday!!!  We are off to the zoo bright and early for a member morning and while we are walking around, my phone is constantly buzzing.  I LOVE IT!  Who wouldn't?  I heard from my mom, four children, three grandchildren, and two girlfriends while enjoying the zoo.  Crazy, right?  At any rate, you're more interested in the animals, I bet.  Here ya go:  Baby flamingoes.

Annual Autumn (Perhaps Winter) Journey to Montana - Week 3 - 1st half

The beginning of our 3rd week has us going into Kalispell to run some errands.  Home Depot and Costco fill the needs and apparently, my closet as well.  I grabbed two more shirts and a pair of gloves - both to stay here.  The two shirts I bought earlier were the exact same and I LOVE them so they will go home with me.  We got back to the house and Mister wasn't quite done being out of the house for a bit.  We went back into Bigfork and walked around to see the Scarecrow Contest.  Each business that participated had one out front.  Had we done this last week, they wouldn't be covered in snow, but it is what it is.  Right?  Walk along and enjoy the fun.

End of Birthday Season 2023 - Dallas Zoo and Dinner w/Friends

The birthday season is coming to an end, but we have a wonderful day planned once again.  First up is the Dallas Zoo and a baby elephant.  How fun is this?  Just enjoy the pics - I took quite a few.

Birthday Week (4th - 6th) - Includes Roaming For Gnomes

My birthday week is always such fun as my sweet Mister goes above and beyond to make it happen.  We've already been out and about but here are some highlights for 2023:

4th - Birthday dinner out at a new to us place right in our own neighborhood - Cedar and Vine.  Sitting on the patio is always a bonus and the night is wonderful due to the company.  My love.

Birthday Season - Saturday in the Metroplex

Good Morning!  It's the first weekend of Birthday Season and I love just having the time with my love and being able to go where the wind takes us.  Mister wants to go to the Farmer's Market in McKinney this morning and I found something unique to see while up there.  I present to you "The Laughing Jackass."  Check out the LMAO at the base.

Montana - Mom's Time - Days 1-3

Another travel day for us.  Today we are crossing the state of Montana and watching the changing views as the terrain goes from farmland/prairie to mountain.  Additionally, we go from fall to winter and back again through the journey.  Take a peek.

Rows of feeder corn.

Birthday Season Fun (and Zoo time too)

May has arrived and "Birthday Season" came along too.  Well, a shortened one at least.  I am leaving town on the 6th so, it's a grab while we can thing.

Today is breakfast at Communion Cafe and we are treated to cartoons this beautiful Saturday morning.  Real cartoons.  The kind this old woman remembers.

Zoo and Family - A Great Satruday

Good morning!!!!  It's time to get moving.  Mister and Kelly are enjoying the sunshine with coffee and conversation and I'm finishing up some Facebook group posts.  Saturdays mean new steps in our Quilt-A-Longs.  At any rate.  The day is lovely and with Kelly's departure around 8:30, we hopped in the car for a walk at the zoo.  Daffodils are the first greeting we have as we step out of the car.  Lovely, simply lovely.

Happy Birthday Weekend Mister - Part 4 - Oak Cliff Mardi Gras

An early morning walk to the coffee shop starts out our day and then some necessary home chores take place, BUT -- the afternoon is all ours.  We are on our way down to Oak Cliff for the Mardi Gras parade and it's a drizzly, cold day.  Hmmmm --- last year it was just cold and now we get rain along with it.  Drat.  As we are driving, a quick look at the Leaning Tower of Dallas.  This has been in the news all week as the building that just won't go down.  It was imploded and this part still stands.  Perhaps there is a reason it wants to stay.

Happy Birthday to Mister - Part 3 - Two More Breweries in Dallas

We have so enjoyed out day seeing history come alive.  It's time to relax and Bitter Sisters is along the way.  Well, kind of, but it's not far off our path.  With Mardi Gras weekend celebrations abounding, they have free shrimp etouffee, dirty rice, and King cake.  Dinner is solved, although we really aren't that hungry as our lunch was pretty late.

Just one drink, but as we visit with others we are informed of a new brewery just a mile and a half away.  It's only been open a couple of months and ---- why not?

The Odd Muse - great name.

Happy Birthday to Mister - Part 2 - Up to Sherman

On the road again and still heading north.  As we arrive in Melissa, it's a stop at Buc-ees to search for a new hat.

Unfortunately, luck is not on our side.  They DO have the hat we wanted, but they come in one size fits most and Mister is not most.  Drat.  It was a great price and a quick check online shows that they don't even make them in different sizes at all.  WTW?

All stops at Buc-ees require a restroom break and I want to state right here and now that one of the reasons I love this place is that they have this part of life down pat.  I've stated loudly many times that there needs to be either a sink or at the very least, hand sanitizer in the stalls and here it is.  Perfect.  Just add that to all the reasons this is the best place to stop when you are driving around.

Continuing north, Anna is next and as we drive through, this cool building stops us for a peek.

Happy Birthday to Mister - Part 1 - Donuts and McKinney

Happy Birthday to Mister!!!  We have decided to spend the day playing around the metroplex and as he has been mentioning donuts for about 3 months now, that is our first stop.  A funky little shop down near Love Field is the ticket and as we sit and enjoy our sweet treat, the traffic in and out of here is non-stop.  Lots and lots of Saturday morning Dad/Child visits.  Love those traditions.

One of the items he has been promised for his birthday is a new hat and I saw one a couple months ago that the person had purchased at a Buc-ees.  There is one north of McKinney so that is our direction for today.  First up:  McKinney.  Parking on the square downtown gives us the ability to just walk and see.  This is one little square that we have not walked before.  Every corner has these beautiful planters and the whole area is just bustling today.

Back to Utah - Days 3, 4, & Home - Ava's Birthday

It's ZOO DAY!  No matter where I go, I love zoos and the Hogle Zoo is such a fun one that I am thrilled Ophelia wants to go today.  While we are loading up the car, she pulls out her bike that Grandpa gave her and shows me how well she can ride now.  I am super impressed.

Pictures are never good enough so a couple of videos help me to remember.

Ophelia's 3rd Birthday - Off to Utah

June 9th - With a quick up, up, and away, I am off to Utah for a few days to celebrate O's 3rd birthday.  My suitcase is full of fun handmade gifts and I'm ready for snuggles and giggles galore.  The bonus?  Ava is 10 1/2 months old now and I get to spend time with her too.  Is there more?  Of course.  Time with my own sweet baby and her hubby are always a special treat.  Now let's get going.

I have an afternoon flight so arrive in early evening to a car full of girls.  A drive to Provo and a few cuddles before I fall into a heap.  Time for some sleep and let the fun begin tomorrow.

10th -  Alright, let's get this party started.  Miss Ophelia is now THREE.  While I peacefully slept away the night, Cassie decorated the dining room with a pleasant surprise for her little one this morning.  It looks great and the smiles are definitely worth it.  Gifts are out and so perhaps I should get mine wrapped too.

Jen is 40 - Off to Abilene

My daughter is 40 today.  How on earth did that happen?  Oh goodness, if I didn't feel old before, I certainly do now.  She's a very lively and busy 40 though and I'm so proud of who she is and all that she does.  She is an amazing mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.  I learn from her constantly and am so glad I do.  She has been with me through thick and thin over the years and I would never ever dream of a life without her in it.  She truly does make me a better person and always has.  As a result, we are in the car headed for Abilene to celebrate her day.  I have no idea what the plans are since hubby is in charge, but off we go anyway.  Louis arrives shortly after us, with ice cream cakes in hand.
