Birthday Fun - Dallas Zoo (Hippo Heavy), Davis Coffee, Manhattan Project, and Family

It's my Birthday!!!  We are off to the zoo bright and early for a member morning and while we are walking around, my phone is constantly buzzing.  I LOVE IT!  Who wouldn't?  I heard from my mom, four children, three grandchildren, and two girlfriends while enjoying the zoo.  Crazy, right?  At any rate, you're more interested in the animals, I bet.  Here ya go:  Baby flamingoes.

We hit the hippos at just the right time for the keeper talk.  That means they are right up close and feeding.  So fun.  All four are in the pond today.

Peeking through the lower, scratched-up window.

Open wide -

That's a happy smirk, I think.

Back up top.

Chimpanzees -

A stop in the aviary - spur-winged plover.  They always look as though they are ready for a high-powered business meeting.  Mom on the nest.

Dad keeping watch and yelling at us.

He's watching us.

Gorillas.

The perfect pose.

Almost too big to hitch a ride.

Davis Street Espresso and sitting out on the patio for coffee and breakfast and more phone calls.

By now it is almost noon - so we're off for one of my most favorite breweries and beers.  A lovely coconut porter at Manhattan Project.  So, so yummy.

Home for a break and we ended the day meeting up with family for a Chinese dinner.  Place gets stranger each time we go there and this one might be the last.

Time with family was nice, though.  It's been a great day.
