Utah - Day 5 - Cookie Time

My time here is more than halfway gone and I'm trying to soak up these littles as much as I can.  I watch them as they play and smile at their antics continuously.  A video of their entire day would just crack me up on down days and I wish I had one, but these small reminders will have to make do.  A peek in at Mairead first thing in the morning finds her propped on Mom's bed and just kicking away.  That is until I talk to her and she spots a face.  Now she needs to be picked up.  Well, alrighty then.  I'm not going to refuse.

Cassie needs to run to Costco and the grocery store and since her hubby is home for a bit, I ride along and see the blue sky for the first time since I've been here.  Oh, the mountains are just gorgeous.

When we return, Mairead needs to nap and I'm happy to help while mom does what she needs to prepare for tomorrow and get lunch for the kids.  She falls into a deep sleep and we sit for almost two hours.

Life continues around us the entire time.  O and mom get the living room vacuumed and not a movement from this little one.  I'd put her to bed but, she doesn't have her monitor on and this is the first time she's slept this deep in days.

While A and JP have lunch - O and I play a game of Go Fish --- yep, still have a sleeping baby on my lap.  I win a couple of hands, but overall O leads the matches.  When O's lunch is ready, we put the baby to bed and set up to cut out cookies from the dough we made yesterday.

O is the only one awake when we start, so she goes first.

She uses up every little bit of her dough.

JP wakes and it is his turn -- although his attention span is short and all he really wants to do is eat the raw dough.  Yep, each cookie cut out, results in him grabbing the trimmings faster than I can move them out of the way.

We have our first batch out of the oven now.

A wakes and it's her turn to roll and cut.  There is quite a bit of dough left so she has a longer turn than the others, but she never falters.

After cookies, I help get the kitchen back in order and do all I can to get dinner on.  Once I have finished, Scott hands over Mairead and has his turn for some food.  Lying her on the quilt I made, she talks to me for so long that I finally put the video on.  Enjoy.

The girls have been assigned to pick up the toys in the living room and when that is accomplished, giggles and play ensues.  They have me laughing so hard by the time a stop is called - mom is ready to make the frosting for the cookies.

Each one has chosen a color and is allotted four cookies to decorate.  They'll get to do more tomorrow but for now, it's getting late and we have a busy morning ahead of us.

These cookies look so good and they have done a great job.  I manage to sneak in and frost AND eat one at the same time.

Oh, one funny story.  I hand A a cookie to frost and she smears a bit on it and pops it into her mouth before I can even blink.  The whole cookie!!  So cute, but too much in a little mouth.    Didn't they do great?  (Yep some are missing as treats were had.)

And that's pretty much it for the night.  Another kitchen clean up and I'm off to bed as are all the kiddos.  See ya tomorrow.
