Unexpected Saturday Delight - Garland, TX

It's been one of those crazy, run errands kind of day.  We've been to several stops, finished up our list, had lunch, and decided to drive over to Garland for a nice moment of relaxation.  On the way, I mentioned that they might have one of the craft shows downtown and as we got closer, the whole square was indeed blocked off.  After finding a place to park, we walked toward the brewery and discovered that there is an Art Walk going on AND it's an art fair, not craft - big difference.  This could be fun.

The first thing we do is walk the square and Mister remembers reading about the big art installation in the center park.  It is Immersive Art by pneuhaus and this is the final weekend for it to be viewed.  Lucky us.  Check out this cool piece.

There are loads of smaller pieces throughout the park and they are designed to be sat on - however, it appears that the kids are thoroughly enjoying playing on them.

Making our way around the square to see the booths - I spot a couple of items I like, but need time to decide.

When we finish, we spend some time in the main art piece.  Love that we caught a plane as we looked up.

Nearby trees are also adorned.

Now - where is that refreshing drink we were after?  Ahhhh - this pomegranate seltzer (left) is just perfect for a spring day.

Enjoying a couple drinks, we decide to go out and shop.  I have decided on a couple of pieces and we pick them up and then wander through some of the shops that have artists inside.  At that point, we find a couple of chairs and a table with an umbrella in the park and just sit and enjoy the wonderful community feel.  One of the vendors sets up a pottery wheel on stage and does a demo that is pretty cool.  He throws this bowl and I love it.  Talking with him after, he thinks it is too large to be a bowl, but is considering a sink/basin and putting a hole in the center.  That's cool, too.

His tent also has another piece that each person can sign if they wish and then he is donating it to the City of Garland.

Music starts up and it is Savannah Low.  Pretty cool and so unexpected.

Around 7:30, we head over to the Blue Rat for a Thai dinner.  It's almost dark and the party ends around 8, we think.

After dinner - walking back toward the park.

The centerpiece is now lit up - so very amazing.

Watch as the colors change.  It can be multi or all one color.

Back inside - playing a little.

While we were sitting earlier - people came along and handed out these light sticks to everyone.  Just now turned mine on.

One last look back - time to head home as we've been out for about 12 hours now.  Crazy, but so fun.
