Sunday Metroplex Tripping

Good Morning!!  It is not quite as cold out today and I want to get out and move around a bit.  One of my friends needs a forgotten retreat item returned and another is performing at a church fall festival.  Additionally, I spotted an art festival that has been around for YEARS that we were unaware of and think it will be fun since we missed Cottonwood this year.  That means, we need to get out of bed and get going.  The planning stage is at an end.

A quick breakfast at home and straight to drop off the forgotten item, say a few hellos, and then get this day truly started.

In Richardson, there is a park entitled Huffhines and every year for FORTY-ONE years they have held the Huffhines Art Trails.  How did this never come up on our radar before?  So crazy to me.

Driving in, Mister says, "There are a lot of tents.  This is pretty good sized.  Tell me again how we don't know about this."  It is very organized and the decorating around the park is absolutely wonderful.

I DO love autumn so very much and the colors always speak to me and my sweetheart.  Does that have anything to do with the red hair on our heads?  Perhaps.

Okay, okay.  Enough scenery --- what do I spy while here?  Well, this post has some of the fun and THIS OTHER POST has other new and unique items as well.  Make sure to click on it and see the fun I share in that post too.

We come to this wonderful rockhound and the beautiful jewelry he creates.  His geodes are in abundance for all to see as well.  He has one of the warmest spots in the place with the sun shining right on him.  I want to stand here and soak it up too.

(sorry, taking a picture too quick)

At the end of one row of tents we come to the food court area but the first booth just stops us in our tracks.  Isn't this WONDERFUL?

Of course we have to have one.  The biggest issue is which one? Oh decisions, decisions.  Can I have one of each?  We finally settle on a Sarsaparilla and it is a wise choice.  Yum.

I love absolutely everything about this food truck and we spend a bit of time talking with the owners, who are from Gun Barrel City, TX and travel all over with this beauty.  This is the first time for them to be at this show and we hope to see them around much more.  So fun AND good.

The next booth we come to that halts everything is these wooden musical boxes.  I spot a woman using soft rubber mallets to create sound from the beautiful pieces of art.  It is so lovely that I am mesmerized and the own returns to give a demonstration.

Check it out as he plays on a coffee table size piece.  The coolness factor is really high here.

We even spot a craft beer tent, although it's still pretty early in the day.  There is also a stage and performers scheduled throughout the two day event.  We will definitely put this on our calendar for next year.

Mister and I both spot a piece of pottery that calls to us and is made by LeRoy Garcia of Designs in Wood and Clay.  It's the first one we have both looked at each and smiled over.  Thus, it will go home with us. Additionally, earlier on, we found a super cool booth (that I didn't take any pictures of) called Coinucopia containing jewelry and other items made with coins from around the world.  They take the coin and hand paint the front, leaving the back intact.  The details are so very tiny and Ed Peet's work is incredible.  Mister spies a pair of earrings from Cape Verde that have turtles on them.  Yep, gotta have those and we ask to have them made up with gold wires.

While we wait, a quick snack from the food court and then we are on our way with our treasures.  Do you want to see?  Of course you do --here ya go.  Love, love, love so much.

It's now time to make our way over to where my friends Cynthia and Sharon will be clogging at another fall festival this afternoon.  It is at St. Joseph's Catholic Church and they have really created a fun "carnival" for the kids.  We are a bit early so take some time to wander around and see the booths.

The low inflatable at the back center is a pool table with soccer balls painted to be pool balls and includes pockets.  Wonderful!

We both comment that this is where our grands would be the ENTIRE Time.

Great use of pool noodles all over this place, but this one is perhaps the best.

It's about time for the Shufflin' Shoes to start their performance and we manage to buy some food tickets, say hi to another couple of friends, and find seats before it starts.  Let the clogging begin.

Pictures of people in motion are harder to get, but these are not too bad.

They are great and so fun to watch.  After the show, hugs all around and I get a chance to see Fonda and Stella again too.  Red Hats in the crowd and on the stage.  It's been a fun day and I can't believe it is almost 4.  Let's head home for a quiet evening.  See ya'll around.
