The Saturday Before Christmas at the Mall

Today is our repeat attempt to watch Mockingjay and we have decided on the 9:45 a.m. showing.  Since we are exchanging our tickets, an early morning, not very well attended time makes sense.  It is easy peasy to make the exchange and 2 1/2 hours later we have enjoyed the show and are roaming the mall.  Everyone - whether you are shopping or not -- needs to make one trip to the NorthPark Mall each year JUST to see Santa.  We have the absolute best Santa ever and he has been doing this for 23 years.  He is dubbed the "Real Santa" even in the news.  I fell in love the first time I saw him and make a trip back each year to stop and take a peek.

The mall is festive with activities going on all around us.  The decorations are beautiful and the number of poinsettias is staggering.  As we roam down one wing, we spot a table filled with little children happily drawing.  A quick stop to peek and we discover what they are using.  Oh my goodness --- time warp.  A Spirograph.  How fun is this.  A quick visit with the ladies in charge and we walk away with a couple of samples for grandkids.  Yes!

As we turn into the next wing, I notice a stark contrast in decor.  This side does not have Christmas trees or lights everywhere, but instead has a magnificent menorah standing tall at one end.  The shops have used blue and silver to decorate and it helps me to remember that this time of year is festive for others in different ways.  Wonderful!

Don't you just love these floral arrangements?

At the end of the wing, we turn left and are once again in Christmas land with Santa and his reindeer flying overhead.  The reindeer are made from pecans -- pretty cool.

Down this wing - at the end, by the fountain - a choral group is ready to perform and we sit a spell to listen.  Love the entire experience.  With puppet shows, performing groups, Santa, balloon art, and many other activities -- the mall is a definite stop during the season.  And yes, we did pick up one last minute gift while here.  What a fun morning.
