Today we aim to check off some more on Josh's list. We're heading out while it is semi-cool and the zoo is our destination because we just didn't get enough animals yesterday. Hahaha. I LOVE the zoo so you know I'm joking. As we arrive, the penguin pool is full.
And just like that --- they are out. We just barely had the perfect timing.
Down to the hippos to see if they are playful today.
They ARE down at the window.
And then settle down to hang out in the water.
The okapi is up close this morning. Love these so much.
Don't you just love the bigger birds. They are so cool and I think they are funny in how they view us.
I'm letting Josh lead the way today --- he can watch whatever he wants. The Klipspringers are out as well.
Lion fun - check out the size of that paw.
I didn't realize just how white their bellies are. Hot is what they are. Not much movement going on.
Over in the giraffe feeding area, some Guinea Fowl have found their way in and appear to be upset about it all. Such a loud noise.
Giraffe time --- always the BEST!!
A stop at the elephants nets us some fun. As I said, it's hot out and they are doing their best to cool off with the mud.
This lady has managed to stock some hay with her tusk. She just nibbles at it every now and then. Brilliant.
Mud fun
The baby lemur has really grown --- goodness. I have to laugh at the two ring-tailed lemurs. They are just so funny when they sit this way.
Flamingoes --- they are nesting.
We catch the otters playing - or maybe just rolling in the dirt to cool off? I don't know, but they are not in the water.
While I'm watching the otters, Josh takes my camera and I think he's wanting to capture the otter fun. Nope -- he has spotted a spider right in front of him.
The Harpy Eagle is out and facing forward. I giggle EVERY SINGLE TIME I see him like this. He has the cutest pair of white overalls on. At least that's what I see.
With that, we are warm and heading back to the house. Bird feeding ensues and we discover that we are out of the brick.
Now for some sewing. Josh brought fabric to make a pillow case and I'm more than happy to help out.
A total of an hour and a half later (including cutting and pressing time) has us with a finished product. TA-DA
Grandpa needs to run an errand before dinner. Gotta get that bird seed.
And another items marked off the list - we have tackled several today. Woot woot. Dinner at Cane Rosso is another "happy to make happen" time. Grandpa even ordered a super sweet dessert pizza.
Back home and the birds are happy again. That's pretty much it for the day - we just settled in to watch some television.
28th - Good Morning! Today, Josh is up and waiting for me. We are making progress. A walk down to the coffee shop gets things going.
And we follow it up with a trip to Half Price Books. One of the items on his list is to find a book that is older than 1885. I take that to heart and head to the collectible section. We score on several that he likes and can add to his collection. It's kind of fun, for sure. One that we didn't buy fascinated me as it was a child's grammar book from the early 1830's.
Now for a trip to the mall and Dreamscapes. I had talked about our fun here a couple of weeks ago and he wants to try too. Happy to oblige. I LOVE this.
Eternity towers
There are still items on his list. One was to bake bread but he has changed his mind to cookies --- we can do that.
They are delicious and, after we finish, Jen calls and the decision is made to return Josh to Mom this evening as she is heading home from a training and the meet up will save her time tomorrow. Well, we are moving and packing up. Grandpa goes along for the drive and we want to say thank you to Josh for spending some time with us. We LOVED it.
packed up and hit the road to meet up with Jen and make the switch ---
