Westlake Brewing -- A New Gem to Us

It's a recuperation day from traveling yesterday.  You know - one of those, "Do I REALLY want to even get dressed?" days.  It works fairly well, but around 1 in the afternoon, Mister decides that he doesn't want to waste his entire vacation day.

I mention that there is a brewery down in Deep Ellum that we have not been to yet and off we go.  Westlake Brewing sits right on Commerce Street and ya can't miss it.

There is a large RED grain tank on the patio:

and BRIGHT yellow window pains with royal blue walls out front.  It's afternoon so a bonus of no parking fees.  Perfect.

In we go and I have to say right up front - we sat at the bar, they poured into real glassware, and we were instantly made to feel welcome.  More so than at any brewery in a very long time.  Ray, Dan, and Art spent time talking with us and interacting the way us "oldies" think bartenders should.  They weren't on their phones the whole time and even though a game was playing on television, it was not their central focus.  These are all things we notice in other locations and this made it all the more refreshing here.

A couple of beer and a pretzel the size of a dinner plate keep us happy and everything is so tasty.

Two hours later, we are ready to depart and promise a return trip next month when an awaited beer hits the tap.  Truly - if you are in the DFW Metroplex and haven't given Westlake Brewing a visit -- GO.  It's so worth it.  Oh -- and say hi to the guys for us.  (We managed to catch Ray and Dan for a couple of pics.)
