Time With Mister - Davis Street Espresso, Zoo, Arboretum, and More

A beautiful fall Saturday means that we can not only attend the members breakfast at the zoo but also make a stop in Bishop Arts for some coffee.  Yes, we are up THAT early.  Davis Street Espresso is where we are off to and it's been awhile since we had their yummy drinks.

I love this little place and since we are here so early, we are even in before the hipster crowd that hangs out here.  That makes this even better if possible.

My Mister

But wait, before we arrived for coffee - we had to drive.  As we were traveling down the road, I tried oh so hard to grab a couple decent pictures of the lighting on downtown.

Here comes the sun

Okay, now we are back on track.  After coffee, we arrive at the zoo just as it is opening for the member breakfast.  They have set up several encounters along the way for us to enjoy.  How about an armadillo first off?

Followed by an opossum.

Check out this?  I LOVE it.

We make a stop at the penguins cos they are actually swimming.

Ah, the Savanna.  We are not going to do the breakfast as that looks like pure insanity in there.  Instead, we walk around the area and then settle in to see if they new baby elephant will make an appearance.  It is rumored that he will.

Ooooohhhh -- there he is.  I can see him through the grasses.

Guess what?  The giraffes are very interested in him too.  I don't think they've met him yet.

Look at these three!  Oh they are almost more fun than the baby elephant is.

See how they are watching oh so closely.  This has been such a treat.

Well, we are here so let's go check out a few things on the other side too.  There's a baby flamingo in here.

Another baby

Enjoying the sunshine.

A Harpy gets some treats.

And the morning is topped off by playful lemurs.  Okay, now for the rest of our day.  What a great start of the day together.

But first -- how about some breakfast?  The quilting gals are meeting at Mama's Daughter's Diner down on Harry Hines but that is too far from us so we make a stop at the original one -- a little closer to us and enjoy a yummy breakfast.

Now, we are off to the Arboretum to meet up with Bob.  He wants to see the pumpkins and is bringing a friend.  He simply needs us to get in the door.  Yeah, I don't have any delusions.  We stop in the rose garden and OH MY GOODNESS, I have just found the most aromatic rose ever.  The smell is divine and I am so drawn in that I cannot walk away.

Bob and Beatrice set about doing a photo shoot and we watch for awhile, helping if we can.

After awhile, I ask Mister to take my picture a couple of times as I love these pumpkins houses too.

We decide to leave them be and head home.  We have some chores to do and are wanting to do so before the day is gone.  We'll be back.  Ta ta for now.
