Talk about an entry way. Wow.
The chapel is open and we are able to choose any seat we wish. For the record, we are a bit early and my fingers are crossed that it starts filling in.
Mister wanders down for a closer picture of the organ.
At 7:30, right on time, the magic begins. (Others are here but for a building that holds thousands, I'm guess maybe 150). Thiery Escaich is WONDERFUL!!! Right before intermission, he is handed an envelope with a theme, to which he does an improvisation piece and it is magnificent. My favorite of the first half, for sure.
During intermission, they left the lights on and so I sneak one last picture of the organ itself.
The second half is as incredible as the first, ending with another improvisation. This time he has to use the theme from "Dallas" for his inspiration. I wish you could have heard what came out of this man's mind just from playing the notes a couple of times at the beginning. Wow. So, so glad we attended, even if driving in the rains is no fun. The next recital in the series is May 7 and I'm out of town, but I will bet that Mister attends. Give it a chance yourself, if you are in the area. The concert is free.
