Over to Abilene - Josh Soccer and Jon's Bday Party

It's an Abilene kind of day.  You know the kind --- a 2 1/2 hour drive through Texas to spend some quality time with a daughter and grands.  Yep, one of the best kind of days.  Our first stop upon arrival is soccer games, both being played and refereed by grands.  After finding the fields, we settle in on some bleachers to watch Josh's game and discover a little friend in the grass right by us.

How cute is this?  I know, I know - this post is supposed to be about grands.

After some confusion as to whether Josh's team will be allowed to play since not enough players have shown up, it is decided to play anyway and just have fun.  Jon and Bekah's boyfriend, Julian are the refs for the game.  This should be interesting to watch.

Okay boys, listen up.  Let the game begin.

This is hard work.

Meanwhile, on the other end of the fields, Bekah is preparing for a game that she is also refereeing.

I KNOW I took a picture of Jacob refereeing as well but for some reason cannot find it on any camera.  Ugh.

Once the games are over, it's back to the house for some family time and preparation for the birthday party.  Yeah -- Jon is 15.  Seriously?  Man am I getting old.

Brains and beauty both get checked.

Speaking of beauty:  Bekah has her prom dress to show off.  Oh this is simply lovely.

It's party time.  Why aren't you smiling Jon?  Is is a sad day to turn 15?  I don't understand kids as they go through these stages.  One would think I'd have it down after raising 5 kids and being around 13 grands, but no.

Oh well, Happy Birthday Jon.  I hope this year brings all you want it to.  Oh hey -- driver's permit now.  YAY!  P.S. -- What are you going to do with all that cash?
