Hyrum and Zyra Come to Visit 2023 - Day 5 - Aquarium

Back to back animal days!  So much fun for us old folks and I hope the young'uns see it that way too.  We are off to the Dallas World Aquarium ---- LOVE this place.  Before we even enter the building, this guy is greeting us.  The last time I was here he wouldn't even look at me and kept turning his back, making my grandson, Josh, laugh.  This time --- he's not so anti-social.

Hyrum and Zyra Come to Visit 2023 - Day 4 - Zoo

It's ZOO day!  That's is always Mister's favorite and it was also a request of the kids.  I'm trying to help Zyra tame her hair down here as it does the same thing mine does --- puff up.

Hyrum and Zyra Come to Visit 2023 - Day 3 - Home and Golfing

With temperatures over 100 EVERY day, we have opted for a quiet and cool day at home until Mister gets off work.  We are playing games and watching movies and just "chilling" out.  I've found a new miniature golf location and booked tickets for this evening.  One the way - a stop for treats and this is the size of the ice cream cones Zyra and Mister find.

Hyrum and Zyra Come to Visit 2023 - Day 2 - Illusions, Arcade, and Food

It's Day 2 - what shall we do?  Grandpa has to work today, but will be able to play this evening.  He and Zyra are up to something - I just don't know what yet.  Maybe he's just getting her the internet, I don't know.

Hyrum and Zyra Come to Visit 2023 - Day 1 - I Fly and More

Woot woot!!  Even though we just returned from a five-week, family trip and saw ALL the grands that don't live in Texas, we have two coming to spend a week with us.  I am just so excited and looking forward to the fun.  Their flight is sooooo close, and yet so far away.  For some reason, the gate is not ready for them.  I'm trying to be patient and remembering that their last visit, I was a running fool to meet their plane and this time, I'm all ready to go.  Ahhhh ---- here they come, at last.

Road Trip Time Day 33 - Moriarty, NM to Home

Good Morning!  Guess what?  The interstate is open again.  Can you believe that I40 was backed up for 18-20 hours.  Oh man.  Some of the pictures from online were crazy.  So glad we hopped off and got some sleep.  We don't get a crazy early start, but by the time we get to Amarillo, it's 1:00 and I want food.  I have looked up a brewery in the area and take us to it.  It turns out to be the cheesiest tourist trap in Texas.  Mister just shakes his head at me and in we go.  I had no idea, honest.  We wait for a seat at the bar and as soon as one opens up, we order and I decide to walk a bit and take some pictures.  I mean if we're going to be touristy, let's do it up right.

This is a Route 66 Roadside Attraction.  The Big Texas Steak Ranch is the home of the "free 72oz. steak" and this place has been feeding hungry travelers since 1960.  Crazy, right?

Road Trip Time Day 32 - Provo to Moriarty, NM

Welcome to July.  With today's arrival, we were not in our house a single day in June.  Woah.  I knew this going in, but it's pretty strange for the entire month to have passed just like that.  Today, we are beginning the final trek home.  About an hour and a half into our drive, we come to Helper, UT and take a side trip to check it out as it lists coffee being available.  What a fun little town.  Come along and share a step into the past with us.  It's pretty much a Main Street U.S.A town surrounded by bluffs.
