The move has been made. It was a long trip (6.1 miles and 13 minutes) between houses, but we did it and have unpacked once again for a few days. Visiting and dinner happen first and then it's time for some games. We only have a few days here so are going to pack in the fun. Not Parent Approved is the choice.

A Long Overdue Trip - Billings, MT. - Rhiana's House
Talk, talk, talk. Sometimes I feel that we talk about visiting family and then it goes to - "we'll talk about it again in a month or so" mode. Not this time. We are biting the bullet and trying out how well this "working remote" thing really is. Mister has taken some Friday/Monday days of vacation (plus a holiday thrown in) and will be setting up a small office for the remaining three days each week. We have THREE WEEKS to make our way north and back before I have another commitment. If this works out well for him, I see it happening more often.
Once the decision was made to actually give this a try -- the packing and planning began. People were called and schedules made. It's not a "touristy" trip as we are well aware of the situation in the world right now. It is a "family" trip and just seeing family and spending time together is enough. At the last minute, Mister decides to leave Friday after work and drive straight through. We are outta here.

A Little Out and About
Having set up an appointment to pick up some t-shirts in Haslet this morning, Mister and I decided to just go where the road takes after the shirt retrieval.
For some back story, we didn't leave the house until around 10 and it takes us an hour to get to Haslet. We didn't even have coffee or ANYTHING before leaving. That meant that once the shirts were in the car, our first task was to locate a coffee shop nearby. Froth fit the bill. It was mere minutes away. Yes!!
It's a cute little shop - with the emphasis on "little" and by that we are not joking. The employee lockers are even out in the space. They DO use every bit of space well though.

Flowers and Birds -- A Morning With Nature
The weather this year is simply marvelous and we are taking some much needed time in the sun. There is much to be said for that wonderful Vitamin D that we are all lacking. Today, the Dallas Arboretum is our starting point and I think you will be surprised at what we find. So much beauty --- in December.
The first thing we notice is that our beloved lake is ALIVE with activity this morning. From this far away, the number of waterfowl is astounding. Zoom in --- you'll see what I mean.

Waterfowl Sunset
Mister suggested a run down to the lake for a few minutes of wonder. It's our own On Golden Pond. The sights, sounds, and sheer beauty of it fascinate both of us. Tonight is absolutely gorgeous here in Texas and although I have a jacket on, it's not uncomfortable at all. Enjoy the pictures just as I took them -- they haven't even really been edited -- and in the order they were taken. Relax in the peace and at the end of this post there is a video to thoroughly enjoy.
When we arrive, I just barely catch the last remnants of the sun.

Merry Christmas to All!!!

First Attempt at Homemade Ginger Beer (Ale)
13th - Soooo - Mister has decided to take on a new project this month. I absolutely love Ginger Beer and Moscow Mules. I don't love the prices associated with either so we are going to attempt our own rendition of Ginger Beer. Since we are calling this the "first attempt," I'm assuming there will be a second attempt as we work through the kinks.
At any rate, today we begin. We have some quart jars cleaned and ready for use. Mister found his fermentation tops (used when he makes kimchi) and thinks they may be helpful. From there ---- the Ginger begins to be culled.
