The move has been made. It was a long trip (6.1 miles and 13 minutes) between houses, but we did it and have unpacked once again for a few days. Visiting and dinner happen first and then it's time for some games. We only have a few days here so are going to pack in the fun. Not Parent Approved is the choice.
Who will go first?
We have a GREAT time and laugh our way through the game until there is a winner doing a happy dance. I can't imagine who that was (taking a bow here). At that point, the whole house calls it a day. We'll be up bright and early to share another fun day together.
Good Morning!! Breakfast is early and the kids are off to school. Wish they didn't have to go but all is well. Becca takes Zyra and the Grandpa/Matt combo drop of Hyrum.
Tour time. As I said in the previous posts, it's been about 3 1/2 years since I was here and lots of changes have taken place. Here is the
LINK to part of that trip and you can see the rooms have changed as well. The den -
Entry and downstairs bath -
Grandpa and I check out the backyard -
The garage converted to a workout room.
Some great opportunity to chat and visit then lunch out at Panera Bread. Once we return, Matt lets the chickens out and decides a nap may be required.
An after school pickup of Zyra and she's home with some chores to do. First up - feed the chickens and as she runs to do so --- they ALL follow -- including Grandpa.
I start watching for Hyrum to arrive on the bus and wind up in his room looking out the window as it's a bit chilly out. As soon as he is close to the house, a quick run downstairs and out into the street --- running at him and screaming how much I've missed him. He's such a good sport --- he runs to me too and delivers a hug.
Once the chores are done, more game time. We sent them the Finders Seekers game as a gift for Christmas and their new one has just arrived. It's one we haven't done either, so perfect for an afternoon.
I LOVE that they love the game and the learning that goes along with it. Yes, it's easier for the adults but by giving clues, the kids are able to solve as well and they enter the results on the tablet as we move forward.
After a bit, we get stumped and everyone is ready for a break. It can be finished later.
Another yummy dinner and then Grandpa brings out a couple of gifts for the kids. Mom and Dad have gone upstairs and we have both grands all to ourselves for a bit. LOVE it. An attempt at juggling ensues.
Then a lesson from the master.
Now for magnetic coins and these are the BIG hit. OMG. So much time and fun. And laughter.
Grandpa shows them a book with tricks and soon they are trying to replicate them. This continues until the "bed time" sounds and soon the house is quiet once again.
Today, we have a full day with the kids. First up --- Zyra and I are making a German Pancake even though Matt is having no part of it and flat out refusing anything that resembles a pancake - even if in name only.
Once it is mixed, clean up follows and then the oven watch starts.
Chores happen and then games, games, games. Today we start with UNO. Apparently defense mechanisms are sometimes required.
UNO is followed up by the completion of the Finders/Seekers and then just some quieter time.
Remember how I said the house rises early? Well, NOW we are getting ready to meet up with Rhiana's family for LUNCH at 11:15. Yep, you can pack in a ton when you're up around 6.
THIS makes my heart happy. Cousins together and me able to watch them.
Mariel arrived asleep and is so content to just hang out on mom. I want to hold her but waking is not the best plan for Rhiana to enjoy lunch.
Smile for the pretty lady everyone. Dang window.
It was such a nice time getting together -- I wish it didn't have to end, but good-byes are said and the return to Matt's had more than a few tears shed by me. This is just so hard.
We make our way down to the family room to watch an episode of Seven Worlds, One Planet. This time it is Antartica.
Back upstairs for more visiting and then the juggling balls find another use and a competition to see how close to the ceiling they can get WITHOUT touching it.
Before it gets too quiet --- Jenga arrives and the whole group plays.
Hyrum is sure this is it for him, but he makes it past.
I'm after Matt and am really wishing it would fall right now.
In fact, I'm wishing it so much that I video him.
It doesn't happen though. My happy dance from yesterday turns into a loud crash and I end the game. Dang, I was really close to surviving and then I panicked. Over a game. Jeesh. We call it a night again and it's our last night. I'm not thinking about that right now though.
Waking in the morning, I am the ONLY one up bright and early. When the rest awake, they are shocked to discover how much they slept in. By sleeping in --- it's really only 7:30-8:00, but still. I even have a ton of energy today. Matt has music playing and I even convince Hyrum to dance with me. Well, it's more like force, but he did it. Mister even shared a few moments with me too.
Dad and Zyra are making French Toast and English Muffins with ham/cheese. One can choose or have both. So, so good.
With chickens at the door wishing for food as well, I have some old hot dog buns to share.
The match is on -
It's time --- selfies with them both.
And my son. (I missed taking one with Rhiana --- drat.)
Grandpa is soaking up every last minute he can with them as saying good-bye is just crazy hard.
Mister has started the car to warm it up a bit before coming in to say good-byes. It's a bit icy out.
All too soon, it has to end and I'll leave with this picture. It doesn't show delight, but it does show love and I have too many tears to have my own picture taken. I hope we can get together again soon. Now, to cross the state of Montana and arrive at my Mom's house tonight.
Oh, so heart warming..............
