Dallas Blooms Part 1

Good Morning!  Dallas Blooms at the Arboretum has started and we are off to enjoy.  With all the rain, we're pretty sure it's not in full bloom but next weekend will just be a repeat trip.  It works.

We are right.  The tulips, azaleas, and Japanese Maples are not ready yet.  They are close.  We need another week with some sunshine in it and this place will be absolutely phenomenal.  For now, we have daffodils, violas, blooming cherry trees and many more to enjoy.  Walk along with us.  (Oh, Mister hasn't developed his pictures yet, so you just get mine.  Sorry.)

Love, love, love the cherry blossoms.

A Little Bit of Birthday Fun

Since we are planning a trip to Europe as BOTH of our birthday "seasons" this year, Mister's time has certainly been limited.  However, we ARE meeting with family for a Chinese lunch today.  It is a great time and I am once again so angry with myself for not taking a picture.  I keep saying I want one each time we get together as we are getting older and who knows what the future holds.

At any rate, lunch was great and then a stop at the antique mall took place.  You can see what my eyes saw by clicking on This LINK.

Our final stop for the day is at La Duni in Northpark Mall.  They have a "baked Alaska" - kind of.  This is a standing joke between my sweetie and I.  Every single time I ask what he would like to eat, he responds, "Baked Alaska."  Today he is getting his wish.  After splitting an entree, our treat has arrived.  Ooooh -- flaming even.  Yes, it is cake.  Yes, it has meringue.  No, the ice cream is not baked inside BUT it's on fire.  I'll take what I can get.

Red Hat Day - Miss Etta and Arlene's Birthday Month

I have been talking all week with my sweetheart about having a Dallas Re-Gals Red Hat event on Saturday.  ALL WEEK.  I have verified the time.  I have checked the location.  I have decided what to wear.  I am ready.  The day has arrived and I remind Mister that I have a lunch at noon.  I'm working on the quilt blog and developing pictures at 11:00 when he asks again what time I have to be there.  I say noon and then that little niggling at the back of your mind takes over.  Is it noon?  One more check --- oh dang -- it's at 11:30.  Within mere moments, we are out the door.  The event is in Plano at our friend Kelly's establishment, The Fillmore Pub.  We KNOW the way.  What we didn't know was that they closed our exit and by the time we backtrack and take another route, I am late.  The place is packed!!  Literally.  I think every Red Hatter in the group is attending today.  That is absolutely wonderful and I find a place to sit.  It's at this point that I realize my name tag and kazoo are still at home.  Ugh.  The best laid plans.  I need to find that missing Hattitude.

Happy Valentine's Day

I DO love Valentine's Day.  As I've said before, many times, what day could be more special than one devoted entirely to loving one another?  Whether that was the original intent of the day or not, it is what it has come to mean.  And I adore that.  There are so many people in my life that I love so very much.  I wish I could do something nice for each one today, but I will extend this day throughout the year as much as I can.

You can tell that a quilty person lives in our home.  A few Valentine touches around the rooms.

Museum Time at the DMA

It seems as though we have been hibernating the ENTIRE month.  Neither of us has wanted to even risk a bit of the flu/crud that has been going around.  However, today we are breaking out of that mold and attempting to have some fun in the sun.  Well a wee bit outdoor but fun nevertheless.

The DMA has an exhibit that is about to close and Mister is very interested in it.  That means a trek downtown is in order and after some yummy coffee that is just what we do.  We have a few moments before the museum opens and I wander over to some sculptures for an up close and personal moment.  What do you think of this one?

Red Hat New Year

We are almost two weeks into the New Year.  Really?  How did that happen?  I think I've left the house once or twice, but for the most part we have just stayed home and tried to avoid the onslaught of flu that is ravaging our area.  I was supposed to attend a 3-day event this weekend but the scare of catching something really scared me away.  I know that makes me sound super old, but it is what it is.  The Red Hat January lunch is also today and I will venture out for a couple of hours, keep my hands close to me and clean at all times, and enjoy a bit of time with these zany ladies.
