Early Morning Zoo Walk and Central Market

With all the whirlwind we've been around lately, just some time walking together is treasured.  This morning the plan is for a quick walk through the zoo for some fresh air and steps.  Much to our surprise, upon our arrival, we spot another arrival.  There are baby flamingoes.  Ya gotta look REAL close for the little white balls of fluff.

After our walk (yep, didn't take a lot of pics, just out walking), errands are run and our final stop is at Central Market.  Mister laughed at me as I wandered the store taking pictures of all the areas I am so fascinated with.  I then sent them all to Rhiana, who has recently fallen in love with H.E.B.  Come along and love the store with me - I mean, I have the pictures, right?

Up first is the cheese (both sides of aisle are full and the variety is intense):

Next comes the tortillas (made in house):

You can see them baking in the oven.

Now for the bakery - smells so good back here.

This baker is making last minute adjustments to wonderful loaves of bread that are headed into the oven.

He just pushes the whole tray inside the oven and off they go.  The lower part of the rack then is pulled back out to be used again.

After dairy products, we round the corner into the bulk products.  This is the ONLY way to buy some of these items.

Herbs and spices - both sides of aisle.

Teas - again both sides of aisle.

Coffee - same scenario.

Soooo many bulk items.

The middle of the store follows (very similar to most grocery stores) and then it is the meat's turn. It's the old-style, pick a number and pick your cut fun.  One side has beef/chicken/pork/lamb, etc.  The other side is seafood.

The last spot is the product.  I only took a few pictures of this amazing area - it needs to be experienced in person.  This first pic is just the apples.

In store, pressed juices.

Potatoes Garlic and Onions

Some of the tomatoes.

Herbs

Mushrooms

I missed the whole back wall behind the mushrooms, but it's there.  Next is the wall where vegies are kept REALLY cold.

Last section before the exit to checkouts.  The whole store is a giant maze - not just up and down the aisles.  It's, by far, my favorite grocery store ever.
