Mister's birthday came and went without him being able to get time off work. We are outta here for the weekend to let him catch just a little breath. He's in charge and I'm along for the ride. Canton Trade Days is our destination this morning. We haven't been in over 10 years and with nice weather on the horizon, let's do it. It's up and out of the house bright and early to get to Canton just as the grounds open. We are just about the only one in the parking lot, which means a short walk in. Now to just take in the sights and sounds. We don't really have anything in particular that we are in the market for, so casual walking is the goal. This is quite the ironing board. No, it didn't come home with us.
We get such a kick out of people watching in addition to keeping our eyes pealed for a fabulous deal. Here are a few sights so you can join us ---- LOVE the carts, some here mean business.
There is sooooo much that it can be overwhelming and we haven't even gotten close to the indoor shops. We have made it to the trees though --- that's nice.
Tap handles --- oh my.
Into the first building we go and trouble is on the horizon. This booth has some beauties for sale. The ones pictured didn't come home with me, but . . . yeah, you know the rest. Three tables and a featherweight made it to the car. Also a clock for Mister. Speaking of the car --- we had to walk all the way back to it and then attempt to find the shop that was holding my merchandise. THAT was an adventure.
Once we loaded everything into the car, we left. The place was rapidly becoming a crazy place with soooo many people. Besides, we need food. Into Tyler and ETX Brewing. Don't you just love these hop lights?
The bartender is a HUGE Star Wars fan and apparently that is what is playing ALL DAY in a loop on a channel. I can't remember how many years it has been since I watched this movie, but let's just say -- a lot of them. Mister doesn't think he's ever seen this one and that doesn't surprise me -- maybe I'll force him into a marathon. Hahahaha.
Lunch happens and my tummy is sooo happy. Burger and fries. What could be better right now? When one goes to East Texas on a Saturday, ya better visit any breweries on the list as nothing will be open for the next couple of days. We've learned this the hard way and are more prepared this time. Our second stop is at True Vine Brewing Company and this place has a HUGE outside area, which is definitely being used. We just take a seat outside and enjoy the sunshine and our one beer before heading out.
If you look in the picture above, the little building across from us has Mister intrigued. We must go. It is called Lemon Yellow and is a fabulous pastry shop. Excellent service and tastebud delighters are waiting for you --- trust me.
Now, to check into our hotel. Yes, a hotel. I know that's odd for us, but we've got point to burn. The room is VERY nice and we're pretty content. Even the greeting on the television is pretty impressive.
Take a peek -
That's it for today ---- be back tomorrow in a new post.
