Telluride Trip as Amanda Models for T.A.B. - Day 6

Before we can even get out of the house this morning, Grandpa has given toys and boys must play.  A little ingenuity and fun can be created out of most anything.

Time to drive

It's so sad to say this, but it is our last day in Telluride.  We are flying out tomorrow morning so today we must play.  Caleb also has today to play, so we are off this morning with him as soon as we drop the boys off at school.  The town is remarkably quiet -- I think everyone played pretty hard last night.  First things first, we grab a cup of coffee and then follow Caleb down to the donut store - of course peeking in toy store windows is required along the way.

Hey you guys, come on.

Donuts!!!  This is one item that truly makes Caleb grin from ear to ear.  No matter how many times we come here, he always picks the exact same type of donut and proceeds to eat the frosting off if you don't cut the donut into pieces.

White frosting and colored sprinkles.  Is there really any other type of donut?

He finishes eating first and crawls into Grandpa's lap so that he can learn how to work the camera.  What do you suppose he is taking a picture of?

I grab my phone and snap a picture of him with Grandpa and thus, he sees me as such:

Okay, okay -- I'll put the phone down:  (Not bad Caleb.  I kind of like this picture.)

Back out onto the street we go.  We have to kill an hour before the library opens so we walk down the street and across.  Caleb shows Grandpa where we went to the movie a couple of days ago.

He gets into the spirit of things a bit and poses for a picture or two before asking to take some more pictures.

So, what's a Grandpa to do?

Once we get to the end of town, we decide to cut over to the park and walk along the river a bit.  Picture lessons AND posing continues there as well.

Watching sticks float down the river --- ALWAYS fun.

We have done it.  The library is open.  It's always fun here and today is not any different.  Amanda stops by for a visit with us but is soon on her way again.  What a hectic schedule she has this week.

Our time at the library comes to an end and we have asked Caleb to take us up to the waterfall near the house.  So, a trip home to visit and see if anyone wants to come along to the waterfall.

Nope, after Trent gets everyone fed, they are all heading into town.  We'll see them there after our hike when it's time to pick up the boys.

Here we go.  It's absolutely gorgeous out and even though we have a map, we put Caleb in charge and he leads us straight to the waterfall.  Yep, everyone should put their complete faith in a four year old and see where it takes you.

Oh, my --- just look at this.

The waterfall is frozen, but . . .

Look down at the VERY bottom of it:

Caleb is not at all happy about leaving and going straight back the way we came.  He would REALLY like to slide down the hill and is firmly convinced that it would be just fine.

Nope, we're not budging on this one AND we have asked him to stay with us cos I'm not 100 per cent sure he won't go cross country alone given the chance.

The aspens are glorious even in their winter nakedness.

There is this old cabin along the way --- very cool

And we are off again, down the last section.  I am trying Caleb's method of just walking fast in order to keep from falling down into the holes made by my steps.  Yep, moving faster definitely makes me warmer.

As we reach the bottom again, Caleb's mood has improved and he climbs to the top of a snow pile and asks for his picture to be taken.  Well, alrighty then.  We must obey.

At the bottom of the trail is an old building and we go to check it out.  Mister is totally amazed at what we read.  Oh my goodness.  What a cool piece of history we just found.

Please read the signs and you will see why he is so excited.

Wow ---- just wow.  Okay, we need to go back into town and pick up boys from school.  We meet up with Amanda and Trent at the school, giving us the chance to sit and have a nice visit while they play for awhile.  Grandpa even braves everything and swings with Caleb.

And then terrorizes Ryan just for kicks and giggles.

Ah, my heart each time I see these smiles.

It's dinner time.  Let's go have some pizza.  We are meeting up with Rhiana and Kasey at the restaurant for a family meal.  Yep, it took all week, but we're gonna make it happen.

With full bellies, it's back to the house for some fun with treats that Grandpa brought before bed.  We are able to visit with everyone for quite awhile before the bed calls as we have an early morning.  This has been such a nice stay and I can't wait to come back again.  Maybe when things are a little less hectic?  Ah, maybe not.  It's real nice to be needed and have the chance to help out.
