Birthday Week (4th - 6th) - Includes Roaming For Gnomes

My birthday week is always such fun as my sweet Mister goes above and beyond to make it happen.  We've already been out and about but here are some highlights for 2023:

4th - Birthday dinner out at a new to us place right in our own neighborhood - Cedar and Vine.  Sitting on the patio is always a bonus and the night is wonderful due to the company.  My love.

Birthday Season - Sunday in Dallas - Arboretum and The Old Monk

How about some beauty on this gorgeous spring day in Dallas.  Birthday Season continues and starts bright and early with a trip to The Dallas Arboretum.  Take a few minutes to enjoy the beauty with us and then we'll share the rest of the day below.

Birthday Season - Saturday in the Metroplex

Good Morning!  It's the first weekend of Birthday Season and I love just having the time with my love and being able to go where the wind takes us.  Mister wants to go to the Farmer's Market in McKinney this morning and I found something unique to see while up there.  I present to you "The Laughing Jackass."  Check out the LMAO at the base.

OHB Easter Egg Hunt 2023

For the third year, Mister and I are off for some childish fun.  An adult Easter egg hunt at OHB.  Joey is there with BBQ and my fav White Rock Porter is on tap.  Perfect evening for us.  They are doing things a bit different this year and each egg has a raffle ticket in it.  They are only putting out as many eggs as they have prizes, so everyone wins AND you are limited in the number of eggs you can find.  Men get one and ladies get two.  Yep -- taking it and don't care if it's discrimination.  The doors are opening soon and everyone is getting ready.  Off we go.  Here are a few pics I got before the room filled up ---- yep, I went it early.  You can tell the eggs are hard to find.

Here they come -

We have our three eggs and are back at the table, awaiting the feeding frenzy that is about to begin.

Mike (I think) is in charge and does a great job.  His humor and wit keeps us all laughing for the two hours it takes to award all the gifts.

Our take.  Looks like some fun visits coming up.  See ya around.  (We also were gifted another card at the end - Haystack, I believe.)

Dallas Zoo --- Baby Hippo, Giraffe, New Maned Wolves

Member Morning!  Spring is here and walking at the zoo in the early hours is AWESOME!!  I love it so very much.  The animals are just starting their day and are mostly pretty active, which makes for fun pictures.  New critters have made their home here and we are on our way to meet the Maned Wolves.  As we round the corner, something is happening with the flamingoes and arguments have ensued.  They are LOUD.

Weatherford Boardwalk

On the way back from meeting up with Jen, I mentioned to Mister that I had read about a Boardwalk on Lake Weatherford.  It is the longest floating boardwalk in the U.S. and stretches over 4,300 feet long across the water.  Now, whether there will be water today remains to be seen.  This is Texas, after all and lake have their moments - this just may  not be the right one.  Off we go.

It starts out in a wooded area and not really any water right now, but as we continued on --- the surroundings just became more and more beautiful.  Looking both directions from a bridge along the boardwalk.

Thurber, TX History and Time With Family

With an upcoming trip to Ohio looming, Mister and I are meeting Jen and family in Thurber, TX to borrow her car rack.  It worked so well in Missouri last year and I'm hopeful for the same result this go round.  We left Dallas around 10:15 and zoomed right to Thurber.  We had a great lunch at the New York Restaurant on the Hill and visited for awhile before deciding to check out the museum here.    While at the restaurant, there was a LOT of information on the menu.  I snapped pictures so y'all could read it if you so desired.  Ya probably need to really enlarge it though.  The history of this area is amazing and so fascinating to me.  It's pretty mind boggling that there is VERY little remnant of the city that once occupied this area.  Crazy, right?

Just below the restaurant is the W.K. Gordon Center for Industrial History of Texas.  Now, the camera can come out.
