Spring at White Rock Lake

Out of the house.  That is the plan.  Thinking about the lake area where the pelicans hang out has us with that destination in our sights.  It's an overcast, kinda wet day and absolutely beautiful at the lake, BUT - very few birds to see.  Maybe it's a time of year thing.  We're not sure.  There are some ducks and geese on land so all it not a total loss.

Birthday Season Fun (and Zoo time too)

May has arrived and "Birthday Season" came along too.  Well, a shortened one at least.  I am leaving town on the 6th so, it's a grab while we can thing.

Today is breakfast at Communion Cafe and we are treated to cartoons this beautiful Saturday morning.  Real cartoons.  The kind this old woman remembers.

Easter Weekend - Family, Food, Furry Friends, and Fun

Easter Weekend has arrived and it's just us again.  We've decided a little bit of family would be nice and still have the chance to wander together so we are off to the Lake Whitney area.  Jen and her crew are camping there for the weekend and we are just gonna stop by and spend a couple of hours.  But first --- coffee.  Overflow Coffee Company in T B Bond Emporium is perfect.  We are able to nab a seat and people watch for a bit.

Dallas Blooms 2021

We tried and tried to get into a weekend of Dallas Blooms - all to no avail.  The new "sign-up, limited availability" makes it almost impossible to go each week like we used to.  It also makes me question the value of my membership for the first time.  I am concerned that open admission will never come about again and that WILL change my purchasing.  At any rate, this week we WERE able to get in with a Member Moring admittance.

I'll just share a few pics for y'all to enjoy.

Backyard Visitors - A Sign of a Weather Change Coming

We had a sure sign of an weather change coming this morning.  As I looked out into the yard, birds were EVERYWHERE.  Upon closer look, they were robins and cedar waxwings,  They were after the red berries on our Lantana bushes.  I know, I know -- there is ONE story about how the berries are bad for birds but they come here every year and decimate the bushes about the time their other food sources have stopped.  I didn't get very good pictures, but a few are cool.  With brown leaves, ya gotta look close.

Homeward Bound - Back to Texas

2/5 It's the final leg.  Today we begin the journey home and will only go as far as we wish.  A night's stop will take place, thus we can just drive and enjoy a bit.  As we leave Provo, the landscape starts changing.  We are going through Provo Canyon and as we do, we even see the cabin where a family reunion was once held.  Here's a quick LINK to that event oh so long ago.
