Total Eclipse of the Sun in Dallas

Ever since we went to Portland in 2017 to see the eclipse, we have known about this one in Dallas.  Eighteen months ago plans were made to be at a friends house in East Texas for the event, but the clouds and her sweeties health prevented that from happening.  Instead, we are in our backyard in Dallas and have fingers crossed that Mother Nature is friendly.  A glass of wine, lawn chair, and some glasses are all we need.

Our first view - well, the first picture that actually turns out with help from a photo editor (it's not that dark yet).

Here is a couple of "stick the camera in the air and hope for the best as I can't look at it with the naked eye" shots.  Clouds, clouds everywhere.  Oh my.

And then, as if by sheer magic, Mother Nature parted the clouds and the show began.  My little phone did not have any filters set so the white orb is my take, but . . .

Someone else is using a better set up.

We have over three minutes of bliss - seriously, such a great thing to see and this is what Mister is able to preserve.  I want you to know that NOTHING is as great as seeing it with your own eyes and no picture has ever really shown me the reality of it.  Do you see the little red spots all around?

Projections on the side of the house.

Just as the sun peeks around, one last picture is snapped.  How cool is this?

I stay sitting for the whole show.  My camera manages to get a couple more decent pictures as the moon moves away.  I cannot believe how lucky we are.  Within ten minutes, the clouds covered the sky and I realize just how amazing it all was.  Now to prepare for crazy storms tonight.  Until the next eclipse (we are seriously thinking about going to the one in 2026), keep your eyes on the heavens - glorious events can be shared.
