Life is so interesting sometimes. Our day started out like many weekend ones do. An early morning walk around the Arboretum. Time together just appreciating the beauty around us. I am so thankful to have this incredible garden to just roam whenever we wish. Sooooooo glad we don't have to reserve to attend anymore. Spur of the moment is just fine. At any rate, off we go.
Dallas Blooms has come to an end and the color in the gardens is much more limited, however, this is a special time as well. The GREEN is in so many shades and is so lush that my heart is just happy as can be. Take a peek: (there is SOME color, of course)
Such a unique flower.
The roses are in full bloom - actually almost past their prime as the aroma was faint.
The last of the Japanese Maple coloring --- they will be green for awhile now.
Behind the water feature.
Here is where Mister's attention to detail shines. He notices that the fishing pole for the boy has been moved. Now, a little back story. If you are up close, you can see that the old man is dejected and has one tiny fish on his bench. The boy is excited and bringing in another fish to add to the ones stacked up beside him.
Ahhhh, now his excitement makes sense again.
Magnolia bloom and working bee.
We stopped up at the Tasting place and this ice cream was soooooo good. I'm going to try to make it.
Now for some breakfast --- coffee at LDU - yum.
Back home and this pot has really come around.
After a small break, I mention to Mister that I will help him get the trees trimmed. That turns into many hours of work outside and total destruction and chaos. We have to get creative to get the saw up to him and even then --- things are really iffy. I'm not sure I'd put this in the "smart" category.
My job is to hold the ladder and move the branches to the driveway for later. It quickly becomes a massive pile. Why is that --- we only supposed to be trimming dead branches but once Mister got on the roof of the garage, he trimmed all the ones that were touching the roof as well..
Some of them were really quite large. It took us another hour or so to cut things to a more easily handled size and haul everything to the curb for bulk pick up this week. Time to go out and get dinner - I'm too tired to cook. Jakes and burgers for the win.
