It's Christmas Weekend so Mister and I are out and about a bit. Today is the 22nd of December and since my sweetie took the afternoon off, we are heading downtown. Come along for a walk and some pretty fountains, I hope.
After a visit to the Dallas Museum of Art, we started looking for some food and walking around downtown. Some beautiful lighting for pictures happened and then we spotted a new to us restaurant. The Swarma Press was pretty decent Mediterranean cuisine. I would go back.
I do love walking around the city. We don't get the chance to come downtown often enough and there is always something new to check out and put on the list to visit again during different hours.
The sun is almost down as we make it back to Klyde Warren Park.
Of course, if you look a different direction, it doesn't look like the same light at all.
Tried the pic again - caught a plane and the moon this time.
Better view of the Mayor's Tree.
We are off to the fountains. Mister thinks they do the Christmas show at 6, I think it's at 7 - we'll either be sitting her 30 minutes or an hour and a half. Want to make a bet?
The fountains are going, just no music choreography. So pretty. Same view, different colors.
Time to stretch the legs a bit.
Mister kept our prime viewing location.
Opening number. Then, the camera was put away and we just enjoyed the show. WONDERFUL!!! (post is not over)
Called it a night after that. The next afternoon, we headed to Celestial Brewing where they are holding a "Festivus for the Rest of Us" celebration. Now, if you don't understand that -- think Seinfeld. Twas many years ago when Frank Costanza set out to the toy store to buy a Christmas gift - a special doll for his son. As he came upon the only one left on the store shelf, another man snatched the doll from Frank's grasp. A battle ensues that will change the holiday season forever. As Frank rained blows upon the man, a revelation washed over him - "There has to be another way!" Frank exclaimed. From this, a new holiday was born. No religion. No commercialism. It would become a day fill with Feats of Strength, Airing of Grievances and of course, the Festivus Pose. Is is A Festivus for the Rest of Us!
So, in the remembrance of and tradition of Festivus -- here we go: Feats of Strength
Submitting grievances.
And the Airing of them. Each one was read aloud. Mister's is there --it's one of those IFKYK things. Some will be able to pick his out.
There were yummy treats for sale - as you could see above, but here is the whole selection. We also bought some of the bourbon chocolate chip cookies -- so, so good.
Food happens as well --- I didn't get a picture of my street tacos, but they were also part of our feast. It was a delightful afternoon --- nice to get out for a bit.
