Howdy! I started out the day with a Red Hat luncheon (which you can see in this
LINK) and added in a bit of Frisco fun. When picked up by Mister following the fun, we are going to try out a new to us brewery - Rollertown Beerworks. It's always tough trying a new facility, but made even more so when we are basically ignored after being served. They DID accommodate my request for a real, not plastic, glass and that is a plus for them. We watched as we drank an okay beer and only when we were about to leave did someone behind the bar start to interact with us. The conversation from that point forward was delightful, but the beer just wasn't. It is what it is.
We decide to give McKinney Oktoberfest a go and arrive just in time to check out a little quilt shop before turning ourselves over to the fun. Dancers in the street certainly set the tone.
For years, Franconia hosted this event, but now it is split between Tupps and Hoffbrau. Okie dokie. Say hello to the Tupps vehicle.
Love this little event office on the square - perfect for pictures.
At the end of another street more dancers and bell ringers are entertaining the crowd. Settling in to watch for a bit, I even manage to get a short video.
Don't you just love noticing the fun stuff around yourself? LOVE this staircase. Fun little signs help with the atmosphere as well.
Another street end holds a petting zoo. While the jury is still out on liking these, it was fun to see the animals. We didn't go inside, just a few pics from around the edge.
I have to admit - the little piggies just made me giggle and giggle.
This porcupine was NOT available to pet.
Nor was his tortoise roommate, unlike the first one shown.
From there, we went back to the tent where the dancers and bell ringers had been and enjoyed the music, some dinner, and letting our imaginations run wild trying to figure out the table next to us. Truly and interesting group of people. From there - we wandered to the midway for a bit of pretty lights.
That was the end of our evening and we left having thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Stay put - I'm putting two days in one post.
Sunday - Good Morning --- It's been a bit since we've checked to see if the pelicans even have water back in their area. It turns out that it is starting to fill in again and there are a few, but quite a distance away.
However, there are egrets and ducks venturing closer to us and it's always fun just to bird watch a bit.
The vegetation in the water below is all new -- this is the area that was dry for most of the summer and you can see that it started to fill in with marsh.
The two egrets in the middle of the picture kept coming together and then would turn their backs on each other and return to the starting points. Kind of like a ritual dance of some sort. I don't think it's mating season, but one never knows in Texas.
Love the little feathers on the head -
The dance still in motion.
It's still calm here --- I miss the up-close nature, but still like the spot.
Hope to a charcuterie board --- food is required and it's the weekend.
Followed by cookies that my sweetie decorated. Yep - always surprises me. It's been a fun weekend together. Welcome to Fall and all the fun we have in cooler weather. Stay tuned.
