Weather forecasts are not looking good for the DFW area so Gwen and I make a last minute decision to leave for Galveston 2 days early. Packing, grocery shopping, and craziness ensued, but by 4 p.m. I am on my way to pick up Gwen in Ennis. We're only going as far as Corsicana tonight, but it is below the frost line. Our first stop is to find dinner at a restaurant that Gwen knows about. After that, we are off to the hotel and a good nights sleep. We are both pretty dang tired.
It's time to make a little more progress south. Since we have extra days, we don't have to go too far each day. It's pretty relaxing. Our first destination is a Wal-Mart and the reason is a story we will laugh about for many years.
First stop is at Woody's for some jerky and treats.
We are making our way to Frieda's house for the night. Along the way, we are keeping our eyes open for a lunch spot and come across Classic Events Cafe. Perfect - in we go. Our meals are fantastic - wonderful comfort food on a dang cold day.
From there, we are off to Frieda's. While there I took a few pictures of her pantry so I can just drool occasionally.
Also - her sewing room gives me tons of ideas so I snap a few pics there as well.
Ross and Frieda are the perfect hosts and our evening is just so pleasant. I even manage to finish the felt flowers on Forever My Valentine. All that is left now are the beads.
My broken toe has spread its color over my foot.
Proof that we are all together - Gwen and I are off to Galveston for the last night of our gradual trek to the cruise port. Frieda will catch up tomorrow after she collects others along the way.
For lunch, we find a terrible food court restaurant. Ugh - however, we did manage to get food and that was the important part.
Onto to Galveston for some shopping and sightseeing.
With purchases procured, it's off to the hotel and a nice evening at the bar/restaurant.
Today is Cruise Day and repacking is happening for one of us.
Just one though. Too funny. See ya on the ship. Psst - Gwen bought me this super cute bag and I love it.
