Road Trip - Day 34 - Billings Fourth of July

Happy Independence Day!!!!  We have a party to attend at Matt's house this evening, but until then there are still hours to use up.  Elena has to work until around 3 so the rest of us are off to the park for a bit.  It's been a few years since I was down at Pioneer Park and it's still as pretty as I remember it.

About this time, Mariel needed to use the restroom and just couldn't because it was a "scary one that self-flushes."  Back to the house we go.  Finish up the outside play with the tramp.

And, then some minor fort building.

After naps -- off we go to the party.  Matt has an above ground pool and Mariel wanted to go "swimming" with her new found okayness to water.  In we go.

She was soooo funny.  Didn't want to be by the sides at all --- wanted me to stay in the middle with her.  Try and figure out THAT logic.

Matt also had a slide set up and she wanted to try that later on.  Okay Grandpa, your turn.

Over and over again.

Naturally, Isla wanted to try as well.  With Grandpa otherwise occupied, Mariel goes on her own and then there is no stopping her until the slide came down hours later.  She was in love.

Teens just hanging out.

Or caught being spontaneous.

Becca had a ton of food and it was ALL wonderful.

As the day goes on, time with Matt is always in demand.  I know, I like it too.

The fire pit is up and going and Becca adds something to make the flame blue.  I don't think I mentioned this, but it is dang chilly today.  Of all the days for it to be this way.  Once the sun goes down, we're gonna need this fire.

Becc gets the kids started with some handheld fireworks.

Mariel gives it a shot and does pretty well.

Then some ground fun.  I LOVED watching them turn and run.  In this set, Malea is ON THE MOVE.

Yep, I'm just sitting by the fire watching.  Seems the perfect place.

Auntie Becca helping Mariel with another fun handheld.

Isla's turn but no "on your own" for her.

Sibling getting along.  Warms your heart, right?  These two are amazing with each other.

Oooooh, S'Mores Time.

Watching family interact is a favorite of mine.  Hyrum and Mariel.

Malea gets in a little soccer time.

Matt gets a Duck, Duck, Goose game going with the littles and Hyrum joins in.

As the sun is finally on its way down for the day, the kids get to start the larger fireworks - some ground and some projectile.  I'm under a tree, about to be wrapped in a blanket, sitting by the fire so can't really photo the large ones, but here is an idea.

Just starting to get covered up. That's about it for our super fun 4th of July.  Grandpa and I take the two littles home and let the older girls spend the night.  Once the littles are in bed, so are we.  Can you say tired?
