We are in Big Bend at the PERFECT time to see the first signs of spring. Little blooms here and there.
This time we start out by going down, down, down into the canyon. Believe it or not, this is harder on my knees and ankles and I'm ever so thankful when we've hit the riverbed. While walking in a gravel riverbed is not a piece of cake either, it is preferable to downhill.
This little walk is 3/4 of a mile roundtrip with the option of overlooks above. Nope --- I want to be inside the canyon. It's crazy that we are in the same national park as before. The rocks are SOOO different. The riverbed is dry and the whole thing feels just a bit eerie.
Bluebonnets in the riverbed. Nature finds a way.
The rocks are still in place here.
On the way back, I spot a cave to check out.
Inside - with the use of flash. A large boulder that the sandstone (?) has washed away from.
Yep, I'm wondering were he is and he's just taking my picture. Nature makes one look very small at times.
When I turned before, I snapped his pic as well, so tit for tat.
We were DOWN there.
Back in the car and on the road --- our next view is of the Mule Ears. It is a 4 mile trek to them so we opt for a stop at the viewing point instead.
Continuing on --- again, the scenery changes in the blink of an eye. Crazy cool That's the end of this post but part 4 has us back in the riverbeds. See you there.
