Independence Day Weekend in Abilene

Our COVID weekend continues as we have driven to Abilene for time with Jen, Louis, and the grands.  After a backyard dinner, it is fireworks time.  The streets are coming alive and as long as chairs are available, Grandpa and I will surely sit and enjoy.  Here are some pics to enjoy.

Josh -

Jon -

All four boys

These are DIRECTLY over us --- falling bits everywhere.

Louis having fun - Jacob in front

The beginnings of a lunar eclipse.

Jen's turn

I don't look like I'm enjoying this at all.  Honest, I did.

5th - It's a new day.  Mister has found coffee and donuts nearby --- treat time.

The plan is to spend the day at Possum Kingdom, with a rented pontoon boat and a few tubes to pull behind.  First, lunch at a very interesting and crazy slow place.  Great conversation going on here.  Once the boat has been retrieved, we are outta here with Mister at the helm.

The first "victim" goes into the water.

Soon followed by his brother, Jacob, and they are ready to rock and roll.  Let's go Grandpa.

Next up - Jared and Josh

Jen and Josh take a turn

Many more rides were had --- singles, doubles, and Grandpa trying to dump them all.

A stop in the middle of the lake provided everyone the opportunity for a quick swim.

Mom and kids.

The whole clan together -

There were some great geological features around the lake --- so pretty.

For perspective -

At the end of the day, a very tired and hot crew are ready to drive home --- in two directions.  These lovely Canadians have a moment to say good-bye to us - gotta love the little family in the second picture.  Now, for the trip home and two weeks of self-isolating.  Such is 2020.
