Zoo Walking

Mister and I have a chance to get out bright and early for a member morning at the zoo.  Upon our arrival, we make a beeline for the hippos and are fortunate enough to come upon a special keeper talk with the okapi.

I love these gentle giants and although many think they are related to the zebra, in reality their closest relative is the giraffe.  Check out the tongue.

Since the okapi are right next to the hippos, we are privileged to watch them enter their habitat this morning.  So, so, so much fun.

Breakfast time.

Like any child, Adanna cannot stay out of the water for too long

Or out of trouble.  It's been a sheer delight watching them, but there is an entire zoo to check out and lots of steps to get in.  Time to move on.

The cameras are mostly kept put away, but we do stop at Birds Landing to have some fun and it's days like this that I think we should both be volunteers here.  We spent more time helping others enjoy the birds.

A few minutes checking out the toucans and emperor tamarins in the Underzone.

And the hunt for the baby flamingos lets us watch as another one hatches.  We are a long ways away, so it's kind of blurry, but still happening.

And that's all the pics we have for today.  Keep checking back -- we don't stay away for too long at any one time.
