Family Day in Dallas

Jen called a couple of days ago to say that their exchange student, Leon, wanted a day of shopping in Dallas before he returns home this month.  That means a day of family for us.  Woot woot!!  We don't get to see this crew near often enough anymore.  They all have such busy lives.  It's land of the giants and a LOT of testosterone on the front porch.  Hello boys.

One of the first requests is a trip to the coffee shop.  Off we go and the upper bar is soon filled with happy guys.

From the coffee shop to the Galleria -- it's been YEARS since I've been to this mall.  Truly.  I do like the openness of it but I am really not a mall person.  At the base of the colorful origami birds is an ice skating rink.  That does interest Jon and Jake and we do go check it out but they think it is too pricey for today.  Maybe this summer when they come to visit.

Everyone else is off checking on their own interests so Grandpa and I look for a couple of spots to entertain two guys who are not really into shopping for clothes.  Where to?  How about a Brookstone shop?  They are usually good for killing time.  Yep, it works.

Jen and Josh join us for some additional fun

And then it's off to another shop that at least opens conversations.

Now, off to Northpark mall for a more varied set of stores.  It's not quite as clothing oriented and even has the turtles to say hi to.  The Microsoft store offered virtual reality fun for some and Josh is fascinated by the robot -- Jared, not so much.

Dinner at Cane Rosso by request.  I'll never turn down a chance to go there, no matter how challenging eating is right now.  Look at those puffy foccacias.  Oh yum.

It's been a fun day.  I bought a new top and that's it.  Not too bad for a day of shopping.  We enjoyed getting to know you, Leon, and hope that your trip home is fun and safe all at the same time.  See ya soon to the rest --- we only a few hours apart and I need to work harder at getting together.  For now, Mister and I are off to pick up Mom H.'s groceries for the week.
