Session 7 - Colorado Boys - Days 5 & 6 and Travel

We have tackled most of the places these three wanted to visit while here but haven't done the things here at the house that they want yet.  Today we are staying in and doing just that.  I have bird houses to build but the only one who wants to is Caleb.  The other two want to chill and watcha a movie.  No worries.  Come on Caleb, let's make a birdhouse.  With glue guns at the ready, we soon have this little cutie ready to hang.  Grandpa can help Caleb with that when it's all dry and ready.  Good job, little man.

The other thing that is on the agenda for today is COOKIES!!!  We must bake cookies, right?  Chocolate chip wins and soon there are three boys and one old lady in my small kitchen, working away.  Yep, it's tight but we take turns and make it work.

Everyone gets a chance to help with mixing and then takes turns making their own cookies.  Oh they love the scoop that gets perfect, same-sized treats each time.

Waiting, waiting, waiting. . . .

And, yes, the rewards of their efforts.  Cookies all around.  Must stay in kitchen though and that is oh so hard for them sometimes.

The rest of the day is spent watching a movie and chilling.  They have been watching the Back to the Future series and loving it.  We are on the last one of the triology and although they have questions, the older boys are following pretty well.  That's it for today.  Quiet and calm.

It's our last day together for tomorrow we travel back home.  I am super sad and wish the day would last forever.

Raef has requested some sewing time.  He wants to make a pillowcase to match his quilt just like Jared and Josh did.  Woohoo!  We get to sew.  After making popcorn and getting a movie going for Ryan and Caleb (yes it's a jammie day), we are off to the studio to make that happen.

Once the scraps have been located, he sets to designing his cuffs and does it with a focus that amazes me.

First -- layout in the order he wants.

Next - start sewing

I have a wee video to share

Quilting and attaching the cuffs.

It takes us about 2 hours and he is finished.  He does a fantastic job and stays on task the whole time.  Woohoo.

The boys movie has just finished -- time for the park before we have to do laundry and pack.  I can't believe our time is over.  So sad.  Before we leave for the park (Grandpa is home early and has found one where Ryan can do some tricks on his skates), Caleb wants to hang his new birdhouse.

Okay, let's get to the park.  Grandpa has also brought along whirligig toys and the boys settle in with them for quite awhile.  The skate place is filled with big boys and that's too intimidating for Ryan so he settles in to play with Grandpa as well.

The day is almost over and I still have a lot to do tonight.  But, there is still time for some fun on the bars and swings too.  I don't want these guys going home without having done whatever they asked for.

Isn't that what being at Gammy and Grandpa's is all about?  Okay, okay, I've stalled long enough.  It's time to get the work done to be ready to leave tomorrow morning.  Ugh.  That's it for tonight.

We are off to the airport with a drop-off by Grandpa.  these good-byes are just as hard for him as they are for me.  The boys are excited to see their parents, but we would really rather not give them up quite yet.

Well, all that's left now is to wait.  AND have donuts, of course.

And wait some more --- delayed again.  Nice face Caleb.

Finally we are ready to go.  I'll be back soon as I have a quick turn around today.

After handing over these treasures to their parents, I am right back on a plane within half an hour and home soon to my sweet Mister.  It is the first time we have been without kids in quite awhile.  Time for a beer.

Thank you, thank you, thank you Raef, Ryan, and Caleb for coming to stay with us for awhile.  We LOVE having you and can't wait til the next time.  Love, Gammy and Grandpa.
