The End of Birthday Season - Family Time

The birthday season is coming to an end today BUT I have managed at last to bake a cake for Mister.  Yes indeed.  It is yellow cake with chocolate frosting and I even decorated it.  Oh wow, pat myself on the back.

We are off to spend the day with Mister's family and enjoy lunch and a bit of celebration.  After a wonderful lunch of pho, we return to Mom's for cake and presents.

Mister is rewarded with treats -- beer and chocolates.  Now I want to see him have those together.

He also has received a couple of gifts from the kids in the mail.  Tea time from Amanda and her boys plus some fun mementos from Elena and Malea.

It's been a great birthday season and I loved spoiling him a wee bit each and every day of it.

Happy happy Mister -- we are the same age again.

LATE UPDATE:

Jen arrived in April bearing gifts for Mister:  COFFEE -- Oh he is one happy camper.

All Right - I Give Up -- It's WINTER!!

Oh My Gosh!  Seriously?  This is Texas and we have been freezing for days now.  So much for our pretty little quince that I posted about earlier.  There are absolutely no signs of spring anymore.  Ugh.

The beauty of the white is wearing thin with me now.  Mister left work at 10:30 this morning in order to beat the majority of the storm home.  I am so glad that he did because shortly after that they closed the schools and most offices, causing such traffic jams that it was taking people HOURS to get home.  What a mess.  The one good thing other than Mister being home?  Birds!  Lots and lots of birds hanging around looking for a handout.

We Are Outta The House -- Woohoo -- Date Night

Ah yes, date night and the magical sampler.  This one is all mine --- woohoo.  Lakewood Growler -- ALL Texas beer.  Fun times.

Okay - So a Bit More Winter

Well, alrighty then.  We returned home from Mister's birthday trip and are receiving a bit more winter.  It's amazing --- almost 80 degrees on Saturday and now this.  Mister has been working from home for two days while we experienced an ice storm and now:  --- well, here comes the snow again.

A Bit of Winter in Texas

We are enjoying a wee bit of Old Man Winter today.  It does make me a bit homesick now and then, but then I go outside and remember exactly why I DON'T miss it.

Hill Country Birthday Weekend - Day Two

Happy Birthday Mister!  Yep, we are the same age again.  Ha ha.  As soon as we are showered and packed up, the first spot we look for is a coffee shop and we find this cute little place one block off Main Street.  It's a cozy, little place and we grab a couple of pastries to go along with our liquid warmth.  While we are there, the place fills until there is a long line waiting to be served.

Hill Country Birthday Weekend - Day One

A couple of weeks ago, I asked Mister where he wanted to go for his birthday.  To explain -- we have opted for trips in lieu of gifts to each other for quite some time now and although he has received small goodies each day of the birthday season, no single item over $10.00.  Now back to my story.  He chose Austin at the time but then switched it up a bit to a wonderful drive through the Hill Country.  We haven't been down that way in several years and never using the back roads as our main route.

It is now VERY early Saturday morning and we are on our way.  The first town that catches our eye enough for a photo stop is Hico (pronounced hye-ko) and we absolutely have to stop and drive through the downtown.  What a fun, well-kept little slice of heaven.  We are definitely going to make this little town a destination all it's own.  Looks like some fun antiquing too.
