We've been moving towards this day for quite some time. Plans are in place and family is gathering. We are flying into Provo to spend a couple days with Cass before the actual move happens. A little subterfuge going on, but we're doing our best to work through everything. I'm just so happy the day has arrived. As we leave Dallas, we notice all the new construction at DFW - new terminal being brought in.
Hello Provo -- haven't flown in here before and we both wonder why. This is sooooo much easier.
Cass is off in a family situation that would just be awkward, so we get our rental car (which turns out to be a truck, lol) and head off for some lunch with a little reinforcement. It'll be the only time this visit, we're sure.
Outside the brewery - pretty cool fountain.
We arrive at the house and it's O's birthday weekend. Yep, I have part of a gift to give her. The rest will come later.
Grandpa snuggles in and is soon drawing a crowd.
One of her gifts was a light - she's plugging it in.
She received some fun art projects at her party and everyone wants to watch how they work.
Oooooh, birthday cookie time.
It's time for us to head off to our place for tonight. We are only staying here one night and then have a house for others to join us.
15th - Day 2 and since it is Father's Day, the kids are with Scott so we hightail it over to IKEA and start the shopping list. Lots of wants are spotted, but today is necessities and then we'll see what the house still has room for. I like this table, though.
Once we've picked everything out - lunch break and Cassie tries Swedish Meatballs for the first time. One dessert is split between her and Doug. Cass dresser, bed, night tables, dining table and chairs are the purchases today.
Next up is Costco - mattress, pots and pans, towels, pillows, sheets, etc. Mister has another full cart of food.
The entire "make it fit" enterprise is quite hilarious and actually requires help from another gentleman in the parking lot. CRAZY.
Cassie's ride home. We drop everything off at the new house and head back over to be with the kids for the evening. Then Mister and I make the move to the house we are staying in, check in and go grab a bite to eat. Dinner doesn't seem to be sitting with me and I barely touch it. I think I'm just tired.

16th - Well, it turns out that the feeling at dinner was a warning. OMG. At little after midnight, it hit and it hit hard. ALL NIGHT. Food poisoning? No idea, but this is the absolute worst thing I have ever experienced in my life. Towards morning, I get a text from Cass that she and two of the kids are sick as well. Great (heavy sarcasm). Well, it's not food poisoning and the rest of the family is on their way there as it is Moving Day. Everyone gets masks and I stay home - being so much help, I can't even hardly hold my head up. Cass is in bed and the family just moves her. It is what it is. The most I can do is watch for a washer and dryer online and send out marketplace ads to Ross and Amanda. Jen, Jon, Jared, Josh, Amanda, Ross, Raef, Ryan, Caleb, and Grandpa carry the weight of the job. Cass crawls out to answer questions now and then - but we are both pretty worthless today. Turns out - it's Norovirus and we're not sure where we got it and why just the four of us. Fingers are crossed that everyone else remains well - poor Mister - he slept with me all night. Ugh
During one of the actual moving of things to the new house, he stops by with some crackers and something to drink - popsicles, etc. I'm grateful, but really don't care - it's that bad.
17th - I am VERY weak, but able to get out of bed and do my best to help. Jen, Cass, and I finish up the last items at the house, do some cleaning, and head for the new house. She will still have to come back for a few things, but most of it is done. Amanda and Ross did some shopping this morning to fill in the gaps and she's going to be pretty well set, we hope. It's my first look at the house with everything in it and, soon, Mister and I are on our way back to IKEA for a dresser and bookshelves for the toys. It's call powering through. I do it well, but it will bite me in the butt at some point. Ross has connected for a washer and dryer and goes to pick it up, as well.
Big boys everywhere.
I order Chinese food for everyone and the day is behind us.
18th - It is departure day - Grandpa is flying out of Provo, Amanda and Ross are driving back to Telluride, and Jen's group is flying out of SLC. I'm staying for a few days to get everything finished up. First, breakfast all together. Raef and Ryan left while I was at IKEA yesterday, so missing them in these pictures, but at least I have a few moments with the family all together.
NICE.
Saying good-byes when I missed a whole day is soooo hard. Love ya so much, Caleb.
Great to meet Ross and loved time with these two as well.
Back to the house and Grandpa says his good-byes and I get him off to the airport.
Turns out his flight is delayed and turns into a massive mess. I pick him up, we make a mad dash to SLC and get him onto the same flight and Jen and boys. Three hours later, I get back to the house and am beat. That butt-biting is coming my way.
19th - I wake to this scene:
Down to make breakfast and the rest of the day is spent unpacking and finishing so many rooms. We do more shopping - Target for another shelf, and Costco for another large grocery buy. The kids are playing after dinner and TS bangs his head on the marble countertop, super fun. Cass takes him to the ER and I get kids into bed. TS comes home with one staple and apparently handled the whole thing very well once we got the blood stopped at home. He was more upset about the blood than anything else. Time for me to hit up Amazon for an early morning drop. A nightstand for Ophelia and some corner guards to stop a repeat of tonight.
20th - Corner guards arrive in the morning and are quickly put into place.
In between unpacking, shopping, and feeding/washing kids, a little swim time takes place each day.
Cass and I build the shelf that we got at Target and finish up the office today. That is a huge step in finishing things up.
Here's a peek at the parts of the house we have finished.
We've ordered a desk for up here where the kids can work on the remaining computer.
I think we wore him out.
21st - I leave this afternoon, but, first - Cass's bathroom gets finished as well as her closet.
This was PACKED with stuff to have homes found. Success.
Her bedroom is all that is left. She has boxes in here to go through and a new quilt will be shipped to her as soon as I get home. Other than a few things in the garage to straighten up, sell, donate - she is pretty much in place and that is amazing.
Dang, I have to do the good-byes now. Love you, Mairead.
Love, love, love this one -- warms my heart to see her happy again.
It's up, up, and away for me and my flight goes well. Mister picks me up and we head home. Cass sends this picture from after I left as the kids are having fun in their backyard. Nice to see everyone feeling good in their new home.
