It's been awhile since I have been able to attend a Red Hat function. June's was right after we returned from Utah and my sweet man found out he had melanoma cancer. It just felt like I should be with him. Then July came around and I had surgery so that one didn't work either. I've just had surgery again this week, but I'm going to give it a valiant effort. It's hard --- oh so hard to wander out without teeth, but I can't be in complete hiding for the next three months. I'm dressed and ready to be brave.
Today's luncheon is at Pappadeaux's Seafood in North Dallas and as I drive up, I love the entrance. Perhaps we can do something with this for our group picture.
What a nice patio.
A few of the other ladies have already arrived and I spot them across the room. Walking over, the table shines with all the festive fun arranged around it. I love the creativity each hostess shows.
The early birds:
Soon, the area really starts filling up and we are packed in like sardines. Literally -- we are elbow to elbow but the camaraderie is wonderful and I absolutely love watching everyone's faces light up as they see each other again. There are even new hats to show off.
Queen Cynthia looks so lovely in her dress. I covet it.
Soon, the waiters are wanting us to order and challenges await me. However, a craving is met and I am treated to crab macaroni and cheese. It is divine and the perfect size for me.
I don't usually share other's meals but almost everyone around me ordered the cobb salad and you have just got to see how huge it is. I think three could have shared one. Wow. This plate is truly about 15" in diameter.
Membership cards are gathered and Miss Etta once again is the winner of the traveling undies. I discovered today that people have been attaching pins to them. Hmmmm. Now I'll need to be on the lookout for one if I am every unlucky enough to take them home for a month.
Our Queen for the Day is Sohair and she has left a little treat for each person at our seats. Wrapped in a shiny red bag, we are the recipients of lovely souvenirs from Egypt. I especially love it since I've actually been there. What fun.
The desserts are decadent, but once again --- HUGE. I want the creme brulee so badly, but am honestly trying to keep the weight loss going.
And it was good to the very last drop
Kazooing Happy Birthday to Pamela and Janie
And ending with a group picture. Yep, out back where I thought it would be nice. We had to rearrange things a bit, but I like it. Well, most of it. I sure will be happy when my smile is back and I don't look so silly. Until then --- loving life as a Red Hatter. See ya'll in September.
