In, with everyone else, we go and make a beeline for the habitat. Oooooh -- right away we have a beautiful view of them. Mama moves towards the bushes a few minutes later, but we are still able to watch for quite awhile.
Dad, keeping a watchful eye.
Now for some hippo fun. We hurry over in the hopes that we will catch them before they get into the water, but are out of luck. They are moving around though so we stop and find a nice vantage point.
Out of the blue, they turn and leave the water to get breakfast. Score!!! Having them out of the water is a rare treat.
Once they have demolished the haystack, they wander their habitat and try to get some tender grass from the perimeter.
A monarch stops by to say hello while I watch.
And, after over half an hour, back into the water they go.
However they are not ready to sleep just yet. Lots of play time. This has definitely been a good morning here.
A quick peek at the giraffe area and we are able to spot a kudu hanging out as well.
Now, where is Whitten? Ahhh, hello young man.
One last stop at the birds landing to play for a bit. It's nice to be out and about. Sure will be glad when all the dental work is finished and I can smile normally again.
