If you are wondering where days 3, 4, and 5 went ---well the girls were with Aunt Jenny in Abilene while Gammy had quilt school and I don't have any pictures of that time. Yep --- you read that right.
3rd - Today is Saturday and it is the last day of quilt school for more. The girls are spending the day with Grandpa and after I get finished, I drive home to pick everyone up for a night at Jason and Tina's where the girls meet a new playmate and spend the evening enjoying some social time. I think Grandpa must have misplaced his camera all day today for I cannot find a single picture of their day together.
Dessert time is handled differently with each child --- Elena loving her cake and ice cream while Malea devours the outside of an apple.
4th - Today is Sunday and it is the first day that the girls have both Gammy and Grandpa home with them. We need an adventure to celebrate. What to do? Well, first we have some bird watching to do. That's always high on the morning list around here. Then of course there is the required temper tantrum when asked to do something that is not her own idea. Meanwhile, Elena has been engineering a new factory. (Yep, that's Malea in time out in the background.)
Yay -- We finally manage to get dressed without any more fits and are soon ready to make our way to Elena's pick. The Children's Aquarium. It is dang cold outside though and we call ahead to make sure that the stingrays will even be outside. They are so off we go. As soon as we arrive, it's a beeline towards the stingrays. The air is so cold we can see our breath, but the water is warm for our hands. Fun times ahead. Look at that steam rising off the water. I wasn't joking about how cold out it is.
I notice that Malea is starting to shiver so her and I head into the main aquarium to warm up a bit. She is pretty peeved about it all until we get to the touch tank and she can play around again. She touches all that she wants to and the decides that she wants to climb the rocks surrounding the tank. That's not allowed and I have to take her away. Meltdown then ensues and we find a place away from everyone else for a little chill out time. After she calms down -- the tanks look interesting and she starts checking them out.
Meanwhile, Grandpa and Elena have finally arrived at the touch tank and I sneak away to grab a picture before they join us at the tanks.
The "Nemo" tank is always a hit and they watch the fish in here for quite awhile before moving onto the eels, which are very active today. I gotta admit, they fascinate me as well.
All too soon, it is time to go home and so after snacks and a couple more rounds of the tanks, we are off to the house to play and spend a fun evening together. It's been a fun day -- not quite the same as a warm Texas day - -but still fun.
